Advanced Erectile Dysfunction Treatment When ED Pills Aren’t Enough

Physician-directed evaluation and individualized treatment options for men whose ED has not responded to standard medications. Confidential and private.

When Standard Erectile Dysfunction Treatments Aren’t Enough

For some men, standard erectile dysfunction treatments may not provide consistent or satisfactory results. Erectile dysfunction can involve multiple contributing factors, including vascular health, hormone levels, metabolic conditions, medications, stress, and other medical concerns. When initial treatment is unsuccessful, advanced erectile dysfunction treatment may require a more individualized evaluation to determine why symptoms persist and which options may be appropriate. Advanced erectile dysfunction treatment should be selected according to the patient’s medical history, symptoms, previous treatment response, and individual goals rather than relying on the same approach for every patient.

Choosing the Right ED Treatment

Choosing the right advanced erectile dysfunction treatment depends on more than the severity of symptoms. A physician may consider cardiovascular and metabolic health, testosterone levels when clinically indicated, current medications, previous treatment response, sexual health concerns, and individual preferences. Some men may respond well to oral therapies, while others may require alternative approaches when conventional medications are ineffective, poorly tolerated, or medically inappropriate.

At Concierge Men’s Wellness, the objective is to identify an appropriate treatment strategy after evaluating the factors that may be contributing to erectile dysfunction. Treatment options are discussed individually, including expected benefits, limitations, and relevant medical considerations.

Follow-up also allows the physician to assess response and determine whether the treatment plan should be adjusted over time. This individualized approach is especially important for men with persistent erectile dysfunction, multiple health conditions, prior treatment failures, or concerns about side effects, because the most appropriate therapy can vary significantly from one patient to another.

Ongoing follow-up also helps ensure that advanced erectile dysfunction treatment remains appropriate as a patient’s health, symptoms, and goals change. For additional patient information about erectile dysfunction, see the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases overview of erectile dysfunction.

How Our Process Works

1. Fast-Acting Oral Troches & Rapid-Dissolve Tablets

Rapid-dissolve tablets and troches dissolve under the tongue or in the cheek and may be prescribed for selected patients when clinically appropriate. Onset and response vary from patient to patient.

2. Intracavernosal Injections (ICI)

Intracavernosal injection therapy is an established treatment option for ED and may be considered when oral medications are ineffective, not tolerated, or not appropriate. It requires individualized prescribing, instruction on proper technique, and medical supervision. Onset and duration vary by patient and dose.

3. PT-141 (Bremelanotide)

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a melanocortin receptor agonist. Its FDA-approved use is for certain premenopausal women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder; use in men is off-label. It may be considered only after an individualized evaluation and a discussion of established treatment options.

4. Oxytocin

Oxytocin is a naturally occurring hormone involved in social bonding and aspects of sexual behavior. Evidence for its use in male sexual dysfunction is limited, and it is not FDA-approved for erectile dysfunction, so any use is off-label.

Common Questions

What if ED pills never worked for me?

Men whose ED has not responded to oral medications may have other options, depending on the cause, medical history, and treatment goals. These can include intracavernosal injection therapy and other physician-directed approaches. A medical evaluation helps determine what is appropriate.

Are these treatments safe?

Safety depends on the treatment, your medical history, and your current medications. Every treatment requires a prescription and is individualized after a physician evaluation. Your physician will review potential risks and side effects with you before you begin.

How fast do the treatments work?

Response time varies by treatment and by patient. Your physician will explain what to expect for the option you are considering, including how it is used and how quickly it may work.
